In 1983, Ros Grimshaw, a distinguished designer, artist and creator of stained glass windows, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. Refusing to allow her illness to prevent her from working, Ros became even more adept at her craft and in 2000 won the commission to design and make the ‘Creation’ stained glass window for Chester Cathedral - the finest and most inspired work of her whole career. SIX DAYS traces the evolution of the window from the first sketches to its final, glorious completion as a wonderful tribute to Life itself.

TOUCHING extracts from Ros’s diary trace the personal struggle involved. SUPERB PHOTOGRAPHY captures the luminescence of the stunning stained glass, while the story weaves together essays, poems and moving contributions from Ros’s partner, Patrick Costeloe.

A remarkable and inspiring story of the making of the stained glass ‘Creation’ window at Chester Cathedral by a woman battling with debilitating Parkinson’s disease.

“Within a few seconds, the tears were running down my cheeks. The window was one of the most beautiful things I had ever seen.”
Anthropologist Hugh Brody
